BLAST OFF INTO GYMNASTICS
2009/2010 PROGRAM
Starting in the fall of 2009 and continuing through the spring of 2010, students enrolled in the Tumblebear Gymnastic program will participate in our "Blast off into Gymnastics" program. During each four week session, our students will focus on a different set of tumbling skills. The skill sets will include cartwheels, forward rolls, backward rolls, motor skills, combination skills and jumping. Along with these tumbling skills, students will learn a variety of skills on horizontal bar, balance beam and vault. (click here to view complete lesson plans) Each session, parents will receive a summary of the skills their child has worked on and the benefits of the skills learned. Support materials will be sent home during each session.
Two special lesson plans have been developed for our "Blast Off" Program
Health and Nutrition - Sports and Fitness.
Anyone, parent or educator, needs to be aware of the growing epidemic of childhood diseases, such as obesity and diabetes, our children are becoming more susceptible to. Being active and having a healthy lifestyle will help prevent such diseases. These two lesson plans were created to motivate a child to become active and be healthy.
The Health and Nutrition Lesson plan incorporates ideas and tips to motivate our students to lead a healthy lifestyle now, which we hope will carry over to their adult life.
Cardiovascular Activities along with fun gymnastic skills such as "Veggie Rolls", "Fruit Medley", and "Veggie Scales" will be taught.
The Sports and Fitness Lesson Plan, along with Gymnastics, will introduce our students to Football, Soccer, Basketball and Hockey. Being active is as easy when a child finds something they enjoy doing.
Support material will be sent home during the session for these lesson plans. Ideas and tips to help keep children healthy and active will be added to our newsletter.
